NEW YORK – The GWA Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable subsidiary of the GWA: The Association for Garden Communicators, continues their commitment to provide financial assistance to deserving students who wish to pursue or further a career in horticultural communications. In recent years, over $90,000 has been awarded to outstanding students.
This year's scholarship awards include the Kathleen Fisher Memorial Scholarship and general scholarship grants, ranging from $250 to $2,000 per student at the discretion of GWA Foundation Board of Directors. College and technical school students, freshman through senior, are encouraged to apply, particularly it they are majoring in horticulture, plant science or journalism, with an interest in garden communications.
Scholarship awards support tuition aid or aid in the purchase of textbooks, garden books, and special horticultural projects to further a student’s horticultural journalism skills or their garden photographic skills. Additionally, scholarship recipients receive complimentary full-year membership to GWA.
“GWA Foundation and GWA are deeply committed to building the next generation of garden communicators and are thrilled to continue supporting the innovative and necessary work of our industry’s future,” said Ashley Hodak Sullivan, GWA Foundation executive director.
The application period is now open for GWA Foundation’s scholarships, and it will remain open until Dec. 20, 2016.
