Signify introduced the new Philips GreenPower LED production module 3.0 to help growers optimize multi-layer crop cultivation of leafy greens, herbs, soft fruits and young plants. The new module enables growers to easily adapt the color spectra and light levels of various dedicated light recipes to meet the needs of different crops and growth phases, according to a press release. It also offers growers full control and flexibility in using their LED grow lights so they can improve crop results and operational efficiency in closed, climate-controlled cultivation facilities.
“We developed this solution for growers who want to produce multi-layer crops that require high light levels,” said Udo van Slooten, business leader horticulture at Signify. “This module is color controllable and dimmable so growers can give each crop the right amount of light and an optimized spectrum for each growth phase. Thanks to the unique wide beam optics and high light output, this robust all-round module will prove to be a very economic investment.”
Full control and flexibility
The new LED production module is available in different versions and lengths to fit various preferences. One version is the standard static module, which comes with Signify’s proven light recipes. Another is the controllable version, allowing users to adjust color and light levels, which can be used with the GrowWise Control System either stand-alone or integrated in a climate computer. This gives growers full flexibility to create and control their own time-based light recipes.
The combination of high light output and wide beam optics means 50 percent fewer modules need to be installed, driving down the initial investment. Operational costs are kept low through the robust design, having high energy efficiency of up to 3.0 µmol/J and an extended lifetime of 35,000 hours. The use of energy and light can be optimized by adapting the light level to different growth stages and reflecting light off the white housing. The high light uniformity ensures consistent production day after day, according to the release. The modules also are compatible with standard Wieland connectors, which can be easily connected/disconnected and comply with IP66 and UL ratings for wet conditions.
During Greentech in June, Signify will disclose all relevant specifications of Philips GreenPower LED production module 3.0. The product will be commercially available in Fall 2019.
