Editor's Note: This article originally appeared in the July 2025 print edition of Greenhouse Management under the headline “A welcome message from the NGMA president.”
The National Greenhouse Manufacturers Association represents and advances the interests of the greenhouse industry through education, networking and communication. We are a trade organization that combines professionals that manufacture and supply greenhouse structures and the greenhouse components that supply the greenhouse users of today with the absolute best there is to offer.
The NGMA membership is a gathering of many of the most experienced and knowledgeable manufacturers and suppliers in the industry. NGMA structural members have the sales and design teams to provide your best greenhouse structure.
In addition, our component membership provides glazing/coverings, shade/heat retention/light deprivation materials, environmental controls, heat and cooling technology, vent drives, fans, grow lighting, irrigation/fertigation, benches, sensors and engineering to make your plant growth facility as efficient as your model requires.
This year, NGMA and its membership had the opportunity to meet in Dallas, Texas. The meeting was well attended and allowed for a great exchange of knowledge between the seasoned membership and a great contingent of new members and representatives. Discussion revolved around concerns with supplying enough greenhouse technicians to provide repair and remodel assistance to the industry, the scale of CEA construction, tariff implications, industry growth and trends regarding building codes and greenhouse efficiency, among many other topics.
The NGMA has always been poised to meet the challenges brought forth by the horticultural industry. The strength of our organization is the knowledge of its membership. We offer a fair and open forum for discussion and networking. I want to personally thank the NGMA membership for their participation and vitality.
I also would like to offer an invitation to those who are interested in the NGMA to visit our website at ngma.com and reach out to us at membership@ngma.com. NGMA continues to monitor the energy and building codes that will alter our industry. We have been producing new and updated “Helpful Hints” documents on the website under the Industry Information heading. Please speak to an NGMA member about your future greenhouse and greenhouse component needs.
Thank you for another year as NGMA president,
Tim Lauer
