During the last 30+ months, our industry has experienced exhilaration and exasperation to the nth degree. From the highs of increased profits and sales to the lows of supply chain interruptions and labor woes, this industry primarily has prevailed. Has it felt like the longest game of Monopoly ever and you're posed to win, but you cringe with every roll of the dice? You’re not alone. In this year’s State of the Industry report, a third of growers are “somewhat confident” the greenhouse industry will grow in 2023 followed closely by “not very confident.” Less than 20% said they were “confident” or “very confident.” Consequently, the industry is taking precautions to protect profits, and many are planning to decrease production numbers back to pre-pandemic times.
