In response to the intensifying COVID-19 crisis, The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has extended an order that waives truckers' hours of service restrictions, according to an article in The Packer. The revised order extends current exemption through May 15.
The report indicates that the original March 13 declaration, scheduled to expire on April 12, was extended “because [coronavirus] emergency conditions have not abated.” Both the current and revised orders cover truckers who are hauling produce and other food, medical supplies and other essential items.
