What began in 1966 as a grower’s solution to a market gap has since evolved into a leading manufacturer of high-performance greenhouse structures and systems, recognized across the continent for its commitment to practical design, quality engineering and enduring customer partnerships.
Rooted in Innovation Since 1966
Westbrook Greenhouse Systems was born out of necessity and insight. When founder and grower Bill Vermeer couldn’t find a greenhouse structure that met his needs, he designed one — kickstarting a legacy of innovation that continues to shape the future of greenhouse technology. His grower-first approach quickly resonated across the horticultural industry, establishing Westbrook as a trusted partner with an insider’s understanding of commercial horticulture challenges.
Today, Westbrook Greenhouse Systems operates from an 80,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Ontario’s Niagara Peninsula. While its roots remain local, the company’s impact is far-reaching, offering advanced greenhouse structures and integrated solutions for commercial growers, floriculture operations and controlled environment agriculture (CEA) projects across North America.
Built on Trust: Lasting Partnerships That Matter
In floriculture and horticulture, success grows from more than just quality products; it’s rooted in strong relationships. At Westbrook Greenhouse Systems, trust is the foundation of every project. Many of the company’s client partnerships span decades, a testament to its people-first approach and the dedication of its sales team.
“Our customers aren’t just buying a structure — they’re investing in the future of their business,” says Greg Van Geest, vice president of sales and products development. “We take that responsibility seriously.”
Westbrook’s team understands that each greenhouse plays a critical role in a grower’s livelihood. That understanding fuels a commitment to honesty, collaboration and long-term support. For Westbrook, it’s not about selling widgets — it’s about contributing to something meaningful.

Adapting to Change: Meeting New Challenges Head-On
Westbrook Greenhouse Systems has navigated industry changes with agility and focus. Whether it be the cannabis boom, COVID-19 or the recent impact from tariffs, Westbrook’s focus remains where it matters most — on the customer.
“We’re not just trying to sell a greenhouse — we're solving a problem,” says Van Geest. “Our job is to help clients stay competitive, especially when market pressures are high.”
In response to supply chain disruptions, Westbrook leaned into its in-house manufacturing strengths. From steel fabrication to motor controls, nearly every component is made on-site.
“We’re hands-on from start to finish,” Shop Manager Uegene VanderWier explains. “In-house manufacturing gives us the control we need to ensure every part meets ours and our clients' standards.”
Sustainability continues to be a top priority across the industry. With both growers and regulators emphasizing energy efficiency, Westbrook Business Development Manager Jack Smit brings decades of experience in delivering high-performance heating and cooling systems.
“There’s no one-size-fits-all solution,” says Smit. “Regulations change, and growers’ requirements are often unique. Finding the right solution for each customer is an enjoyable challenge for me!”
An Expanding Portfolio of Integrated Solutions
Westbrook has steadily evolved from a structural greenhouse manufacturer into a comprehensive provider of integrated growing solutions. Its product lineup now includes the Skyline, Apex and Freestanding greenhouse models, as well as custom heating systems designed for both new builds and retrofit projects.
The company’s latest addition — its Venlo Greenhouse — marks a significant step forward. This high-tech glass structure is of Dutch design, with engineering for North American climates and grower needs.
To bring this advanced solution to market, Westbrook partnered with Ammerlaan Construction, a respected Dutch manufacturer and builder known for its expertise in Venlo systems. This collaboration combines Westbrook’s local market knowledge with Ammerlaan’s structural engineering experience to deliver turnkey, high-performance greenhouse solutions.
To support this initiative, Westbrook also welcomed Andrew Schooley as director of Venlo sales in April 2025. Schooley brings hands-on project management experience in Venlo builds. His technical insight and practical approach make him a valuable resource for growers exploring the next generation of controlled environment agriculture.
“Growers are looking for solutions that offer both performance and longevity. Venlo systems check all the boxes: efficiency, durability and scalability,” says Schooley. “I’m excited to help bring this proven European model to more growers across North America.”

Tailored Solutions for Evolving Needs
No two growing operations are the same, and Westbrook embraces that diversity. From custom garden centers to unique, non-horticultural projects, the company’s knowledgeable sales and design teams coupled with its investment in advanced manufacturing allow for flexible, efficient and high-quality builds tailored to each client’s vision.
This adaptability has earned Westbrook a reputation as a reliable partner for growers of all sizes — from small family farms to expansive commercial facilities. With typical builds ranging from half an acre to five acres, many clients return for additional projects as their operations expand, confident in the company’s consistent delivery and ongoing support.
Driven by Expertise, Built on Trust
Westbrook’s focus remains clear: support growers through smart innovation, strong relationships and proven solutions. By investing in skilled people, collaborating with industry leaders like Ammerlaan Construction and trusted local manufacturers, and continuously evolving its product offerings, Westbrook is helping clients navigate the complexities of modern agriculture with confidence.
This approach is the result of nearly 60 years of experience — not just in building structures, but in building trust. From high-performance structures to advanced heating systems, Westbrook continues to deliver custom solutions that meet today’s needs and support tomorrow’s growth.
Westbrook Systems is proud to be part of the Westbrook Group of Companies, a family of businesses committed to quality, sustainability and service since 1959.
