A.M.A. Plastics Ltd.’s Managing Directors, Cornelia and Richard Bradt, recently hosted the Essex County Brain Tumour Night of Hope at Pelee Island Winery in Kingsville, Ontario, on behalf of Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
Guests included business owners from Kingsville and Leamington, and were treated to a tasting of Pelee Island Winery’s finest wines, donated by the winery and led by Winemaster Walter Schmoranz, and a charcuterie and cheese selection from The Butcher of Kingsville.
Celebrating 10 years of working together with Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, the Bradts presented A.M.A.’s annual donation, raised from the proceeds of the Canadian sales of Al’s Flower Pouch, to Susan Marshall, executive director, and Fred Wilder, board member, of Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. The $6,000 donation pushed A.M.A.’s donations to more than $62,000 since 2003. Thousands of Al’s Flower Pouches are printed each year with the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada logo and contact information to help increase awareness about the foundation and its services to patients and caregivers. A.M.A. Plastics Ltd. and Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada are both celebrating 30 year anniversaries in 2012, with Al’s Flower Pouch celebrating 20 years of sales worldwide.
The Night of Hope was held to raise awareness about brain tumour issues and garner support for three important projects being undertaken by Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada including a Canadian Brain Tumour Registry (no complete brain tumour database exists in Canada); incentives to assist young researchers and physicians in brain tumor research and to help recruit young people into the fields of brain tumour treatment and research; and a program to assist children surviving brain tumours with post-secondary education opportunities.
