Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers announced its 2008 Cut Flowers of the Year. The winners: Eryngium ‘Blue Glitter’ (fresh) and Sorghum bicolor (dried).
‘Blue Glitter’ is a FastraX perennial from Benary Seed that doesn’t require vernalization. Vaselife is 12-16 days.
Sorghum bicolor is an easy-to-grow annual. The attractive seed heads can be used for fresh or dried arrangements. Many selections are tall (5-12 feet high) and are a dramatic backdrop for other plants.
