Biobest to host IPM Day in Denver, Co. on March 10

The workshop will cover common greenhouse pests, food supplements for better beneficial insect buildup, and more.


Biobest USA will host a workshop covering the latest innovations from the field of IPM in March 10, 2016 in Denver, Co. 
 
Topics will include:
  • Startup procedure and propagation                              
  • Banker plants 
  • Common greenhouse pests and identification. 
  • Cutting and plug dips
  • Aphid identification and treatment
  • Thrips: How do we win the battle?
  • Chemicals and IPM
  • NEW--Food supplements for better build-up of beneficial insect populations.
 
Speakers:
 
Wesley Akkermans – Biobest Europe
Wesley has more than 10 years of experience in the IPM field. He has worked extensively throughout North-America, Europe and Asia. He has worked in many different situations and crops- from small greenhouses to very large greenhouse facilities and lectures on all aspects involved with a proper IPM program. Wesley lives in the Netherlands.
 
Charlie Mckenzie -Tagawa Greenhouses
While studying for a BSc in Horticulture at the University of Georgia Charlie was awarded a scholarship to move to Colorado for six months for an internship with Tagawa Greenhouses. On graduating, he was offered a grower position at the company’s New Mexico facility – a move of 1400 miles to Estancia. He is now the Site Manager, responsible for all growing, operations and site management. Having spotted his potential early on, the Tagawa family has invested an immense amount of trust in Charlie giving him the confidence to develop and implement an impressive full biological control strategy. Charlie is also an excellent resource for any of your growing questions. 
 
Amanda Brown 
Amanda has a Master’s degree in Integrated Pest Management and 8 years of experience working in the field of pest management.  She has consulted and done research with growers from a wide range of crops from greenhouse to field berries to orchards. This is her 5th year with Biobest and enjoys the challenge of developing customized biological control programs for a variety of vegetable, ornamental and medicinal greenhouse crops.  
 
Emiel Vanderwel - Biobest
A former grower in ornamental greenhouse in Alberta for many years, he is now working with Biobest in Canada and the USA. Emiel travels in North America and works with customers for all their biological control needs.
 
Admission is free and lunch will be provided. Please limit to three persons per company. Government agencies, please 1 per facility.
