On May 13 thousands of early-morning commuters in Chicago received a free tomato plant from Burpee Home Gardens. Burpee kicked off the vegetable-growing season by giving away over 2,000 plants in about 30 minutes.
Members of the Burpee Home Gardens team encouraged passersby to “get their garden on” this year. Each plant included information on the new mobile gardening tool, the Burpee Garden Coach, and directed consumers where to find more Burpee plants in stores.
