California Spring Trials dates announced

Earlier dates should allow for increased attendance

During this year’s OFA Short Course in Columbus, participating companies of the California Spring Trials set the dates for the 2011 event from March 26 through April 1. Exhibiting locations have the option to extend those dates to accommodate visitors. Over 40 companies participated in this year’s Spring Trials.
The trials have been held for more than 40 years and are hosted by the various plant breeding companies. The trials give these companies the opportunity to introduce to the industry new and innovative plants and programs, peer networking, educational presentations and materials and marketing/promotional displays. Attendees include growers, distributors, retailers, landscapers and media personnel from all over the world.
Due to the changing needs of the trials attendees and host companies, future dates for the Spring Trials will be determined during the OFA Short Course.
John Gaydos, director of product development and promotion at Proven Winners North America and a member of the Spring Trials communication committee, said that a variety of factors are considered when choosing the trials dates including other industry events, the spring selling season, the number of participating companies and locations, travel distances and plant growing conditions.
