Calif. Assoc. of Nurseries and Garden Centers has ended Garden Market Expo, which has been held in Las Vegas since 1995. The event, which had been produced by the association since 1976, had previously been called the Pacific Hort. Trade Show and the Western Nursery & Garden Expo. “The current economic recession necessitates change and the time has come to move forward with a new business plan for the association,” said Chris Martinez of Orchard Nursery and Florist, who is the association’s board chairperson. For 2010 the association has announced the opening of a new show, The Nursery Mart, which will run concurrently with the Calif. Grown Show, June 2, at the Orange County Event/Fairgrounds Center. The Calif. Grown Show features plant material exclusive to California growers only. The Nursery Mart will run concurrently in an adjoining building. It will showcase hard good suppliers that serve growers, landscapers and retailers with a variety of products from greenhouses to gardening accessories.
