The Ontario-based horticultural research and development Center for Horticultural Innovation has rebranded as Biophi, to reflect the organization's evolution and role within the controlled environment agriculture industry.
"Biophi’s new identity is centered on the idea of "Growing Possibilities" — inspiring future-forward solutions that benefit growers, suppliers and the industry as a whole," the company, which was founded in 2020, said in a news release. "The new identity captures Biophi’s role as a forward-looking partner for the horticultural industry — analytical yet hands-on, pragmatic yet creative — reflecting its commitment to getting real-world solutions to market faster."
"Adopting the Biophi identity allows us to better represent who we are today: a collaborative hub accelerating horticultural innovation," said Matt Korpan, executive director of R&D operations at Biophi. "This refresh tells our story as a future-facing problem-solver, empowering growers and partners with real-world solutions."
Biophi also introduced a refreshed visual identity and updated messaging designed to highlight its commitment to research, collaboration and industry-wide progress. The rebrand was developed in partnership with global design studio Bruce Mau Design.
"The stencil wordmark conveys agility and a 'ready-to-act' attitude, while the encircled monogram doubles as a mark of authority," the company said. "A predominantly white palette emphasizes science and precision, complemented by colours inspired by Biophi’s own technologies, like LED lighting."
"Sharing our work with Biophi was about capturing their unique role as both innovators and problem-solvers in horticulture," said BMD Chief Creative Officer Laura Stein. "By immersing ourselves in their world — walking the greenhouses, speaking with growers and understanding the challenges of controlled environment agriculture — we translated their hands-on, forward-looking spirit into a brand system that is bold, practical and future-facing. The new Biophi identity not only reflects who they are today, but also their commitment to growing possibilities for the entire industry."
The Biophi rollout across the organization's website, LinkedIn, facility and communications began Sept. 18, 2025. All employees' emails were also changed to a @biophi.ca handle.
