Communities receive beautification awards

America in Bloom (AIB), a national community beautification program, announced the winners of its 2007 competition. Awards were presented in seven population categories.

The 2007 winners were: Frankenmuth, Mich.; St. Clairsville, Ohio; Buffalo, Minn.; Red Wing, Minn.; Beloit, Wash.; Ocala, Fla. and Rockford, Ill. AIB judges visited participating cities last summer to evaluate landscapes, urban forestry, turf and groundcover areas, floral displays and community involvement.

Registration forms for the 2008 competition are available on the AIB Web site. Entries must be received by Feb. 28. Registration fees are based on the community’s population category.
