The votes have been tallied at Cornell’s annual flower research field trials.
The Best Overall plants ranked in order from 1-10 are: Sanvitalia Sunbini from Proven Winners, Chrysocephalum apiculatum ‘Flambe Orange’ from Proven Winners, petunia ‘Jamboree Burgundy’ from Goldsmith Seeds, C. apiculatum ‘Flambe Yellow,’ phlox ‘Intensia Lavender Glow’ from Proven Winners, phlox ‘Intensia Neon Pink,’ verbena ‘Lanai Lavender Star’ from Goldsmith Seeds, salvia ‘Mystic Spires Blue’ from Ball FloraPlant and ornamental millet ‘Jester’ from PanAmerican Seed.
The trials station also ranks best in category for argyranthemum, calibrachoa, diascia, geranium (exotic), zonal geranium, osteospermum, petunia, phlox, scaevola, verbena and vinca.

Each plant was rated by four people on overall impact of flowers, foliage, landscape value and plot uniformity. A complete list of winners is available online.
