Creek Hill Nursery in Lancaster County, Pa., will be growing the plants for the two green roofs being installed at the main campus of Community College of Philadelphia. A 7,900-square-foot green roof is being installed on the college’s new Pavilion Building and a 3,600-square-foot green roof will be part of an addition to the college’s Bonnell Building.
The college has selected the LiveRoof Hybrid Green Roof System from LiveRoof LLC. LiveRoof modules are delivered with plants that are already full-grown.
“LiveRoof is complete on the day it is installed, not two or three years later if the plants mature and fill in,” said Gary Bixby, director of facilities planning and construction management at Community College of Philadelphia. He said the installations will provide immediate 100% roof protection, energy conservation and storm water management benefits. He also said the college’s neighbors in the high-rise buildings next to the campus will enjoy the view of the green roofs.
Creek Hill Nursery distributes the LiveRoof System and grows the plants for green roof installations in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and parts of New Jersey.
