A survey of shoppers in Great Britain, Germany, France and Spain found that nearly half (49%) expect to be purchasing more food and grocery products with ethical credentials in the future. International food and grocery analysts IGD surveyed 2,700 shoppers about ethical issues this summer. Interest in ethical shopping varied among shoppers in the countries surveyed.
The top ethical issues were buying local and regional foods with 35% saying they would buy more in the future; fair trade products (24%); animal welfare (24%) and organic products (21%).
