The brown marmorated stink bug already common in Mid-Atlantic states, has arrived in the Madison area and will likely become established in Dane County, according to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.
The brown marmorated stink bug originates from Eastern Asia and doesn’t have natural enemies, the DATCP said.
“In other parts of the nation where it has been found, it has attacked a wide range of agricultural, garden and ornamental plants, and gets into homes to overwinter,” said Brian Kuhn, director of the Bureau of Plant Industry.
