Fla. governor-elect visits Delray Plants Co.

Governor-elect Rick Scott meets with Highlands County business and community leaders

In December, Fla. governor-elect Rick Scott made a stop at Delray Plants Co. in Venus, Fla., during a week-long tour of the state to meet with representatives of the state’s major industries. The purpose of his visit to Delray Plants was an effort to better understand the challenges facing the state’s agriculture industry. Scott also is promoting his 7-7-7 plan which involves seven steps to create 700,000 jobs in seven years.
While at Delray Plants, Scott met with Highlands County agriculture and community leaders and took a tour of the production facility with company co-owner Randy Gilde.
Scott told Highlands Today that his visit was part of listening tour to find out what issues that businesses have and to learn what he can do to ensure the companies want to remain operating in the state. He said one of the major concerns of the companies was non-responsiveness of government agencies to their requests for approvals to something and the need for so many different permits.
