On March 14, a new large flowered cut gerbera bred by Florist De Kwakel was given the name Alain Ducasse in honor of the famous French chef. During a dinner at the restaurant Ron Blaauw Amsterdam, Florist De Kwakel export manager Sjaak Sijm presented the flower to Alain Ducasse.
The double flower is two-toned cream/pink with a black heart. The colors symbolize warmth and ingenuity. It is the result of four years of intensive breeding. At its formal introduction, the cocktail-colored gerbera was christened by pouring champagne over the flower. It will be available worldwide during 2012.
