Gertens Greenhouses and Garden Center, a Minn. based grower and retailer, expanded its growing facilities the week of Jan. 30.
They acquired Linder's Greenhouse property in St. Elmo, Minn. Linder's had previously announced that they would shut down their 102-year operation after a poor spring. They closed their doors on Oct. 27.
Gertens acquired a 52-acre growing site, including 11-acres of heated greenhouses and utility buildings. This comes on the heels of several other acquisitions for the Gertens. They purchased 80 acres from Buell's Landscape and Design Center last February. Last April they opened a $1.5 million, 2.5 acre automated greenhouse.
