Gowan Co. has reached an agreement with Dow AgroSciences to acquire the rights to M-Pede insecticide/fungicide and Scythe herbicide. M-Pede is an OMRI-certified insecticide/fungicide that controls aphids, thrips and mites on a variety of crops, including ornamentals, vegetables, tree fruits, tree nuts, grapes and cotton. Scythe is a non-selective herbicide used to control a broad spectrum of weeds.
The purchases enable Gowan to expand its line of crop protection products and allow Dow AgroSciences to focus its resources on priority solutions in its agricultural chemical portfolio, especially new molecules in the launch phase, and its growing biotechnology portfolio.
Under the agreement, Gowan and its subsidiaries started selling the 2 products on Nov. 10.
