Clean Water Services and Ostara Nutrient Recovery Technologies Inc. will unveil their second Nutrient Recovery Facility at the Rock Creek Advanced Wastewater Treatment Facility (Rock Creek AWWTF) in Hillsboro, Ore. on May 8. The facility uses Ostara’s Pearl Nutrient Recovery Process to recover phosphorus and nitrogen from wastewater and transform them into Crystal Green, an environmentally friendly, slow release fertilizer, which can be used by nurseries and other businesses throughout the region. The Ostara technology provides environmental and financial benefits to Clean Water Services and its ratepayers by increasing plant capacity, reducing maintenance costs and generating revenue from environmentally friendly fertilizer.
The event will feature the larger capacity Pearl 2000 system, which has four times the capacity of the Pearl 500. The system will make Rock Creek facility the largest municipal producer of Crystal Green in the world.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will be the keynote speaker for the media launch and the Honorable Ted Wheeler, Oregon State Treasurer, will also be speaking.
