The 2012 OFA Short Course will offer Grower Solutions, a program that will present an array of answers and opportunities to greenhouse owners, managers and growers who seek to address operational and production concerns. The program will offer more than 35 educational sessions and product and service information. Classes range from basic production techniques to the use of biofungicides and the latest varieties on the market. Sessions fall within 14 categories, including pest and disease control, growing and selling to the landscape market, biocontrols, crop nutrition and more.
There will also be a Grower Solutions Area, an interactive area in the Convention Center that will help growers find profitable solutions to production challenges. This year the area is dedicated to the use and benefits of high tunnels. Experts will be on hand to answer questions.
Attendees will also find other interactive opportunities for that meet Grower Solutions. The Grower Extension Tour is a day-long tour of the deMonye’s Greenhouse, Meadow View Growers and Darby Creek Growers. The Virtual Grower Workshop will give a hands-on look at the Virtual Grower software tool. Both the tour and the workshop will be held on July 14. There will also be guided tours of the tradeshow floor, presenting products and suppliers of Growing Media and Pest Management Resources.
The OFA Short Course is held on July 14-17 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio. To learn more about the event, visit www.ofashortcourse.org.
