From the Leaf-Chronicle:
The Academy of Plants and Animal Systems at Montgomery Central High School has expanded and is about to grow more food.
With the two greenhouses nearly complete, Danny Boner, Agriculture Academy of Plant and Animal Systems teacher, hopes that in October students will have planted seeds and started growing plants.
The academy will prepare students for post-secondary opportunities in the 21st century world of agriculture. With agriculture’s rapid changes, it is becoming one of the nation’s fastest-growing and most profitable fields. With the rising cost of food and decreasing land availability, there is a renewed interest in this industry.
Academy students will have hands-on opportunities with plants and animals, and there are three pathways: horticulture production, landscaping and production of animals.
