Grower markets chocolate-themed seed kits for wholesale

The Chocolate Flower Farm in Langley, Wash., offers chocolate-themed seed kits as a wholesale item, capitalizing on the popularity of the delectable product. The specialty nursery grows dark-colored plants and cultivars that bear the chocolate name.

Three kits are available: the Kid’s Chocolate Garden, the Annual Chocolate Garden and the Perennial Chocolate Garden.

The children’s kit includes the darkest-flowering forms of nasturtium, sunflower, painted tongue, pincushion flower, snapdragon and viola.

The annual kit includes the same plants as the children’s version except the snapdragon is replaced by sweet pea ‘Midnight’ and the painted tongue for rudbeckia ‘Chocolate Orange.’

The perennial kit features a “hard-to-find” hollyhock ‘Chater’s Chestnut,’ penstemon ‘Chocolate Drop,’ columbine ‘Chocolate Soldier,’ foxglove ‘Milk Chocolate,’ chocolate daisy and sweet William ‘Sooty.’
