Hem Zaden B.V. in Hem, Netherlands, has takes over the inventory and 2009 production of all open-pollinated flower seed varieties of Bodger Seeds, a division of John Bodger & Sons Co. The acquisition includes: carnation, Mini Spice series; cosmos, Sunny and Cutesy series; pansy, Glory and Dancer series; snapdragon, the Freesong and Rocket series; stock (Matthiola incana); sweet peas (Lathyrus); vinca, Heatwave and Santa Fe series; zinnia, Dasher and Small World series; and various selections/products for professional growers. Hem Zaden will continue the activities in breeding, selection and production of sweet peas. Sweet pea production will continue in the Lompoc, Calif., area. Orders for sweet peas within the U.S. and Canada will be processed and shipped from California. The remaining Bodger flower seed varieties will be processed and shipped from the Netherlands. Until Sept. 12, orders for these varieties should be placed with Bodger. Starting Sept. 14, all orders will be handled by Hem Zaden.
