Hort Americas and G-CON Manufacturing are offering a state-of-the-art, cost-efficient and flexible alternative to traditional growth chambers and greenhouses. Available from Hort Americas, Green Pods have multiples uses including plant growth research and small scale plant production.
Green Pods are self-contained modules consisting of a welded aluminum frame. Each unit is multi-tiered, transportable and customizable to meet specific research or production needs. The standard Green Pod measures 12-feet long, 8-feet high and 7-feet wide. The pods can also be custom built to customer specifications.
Each pod is equipped with an HVAC system to provide the necessary environmental conditions. The temperature range is 65°F to 90°F, and humidity levels can be maintained at 30 to 60 percent along with providing 24 hour light control. Each pod requires a single 50 amp outlet to operate. Other features that can be added to the standard unit include plant trays/racks, recirculating irrigation, fertigation and acid injection systems, and environmental monitoring and data collection. Since each Green Pod is self-contained, the modules can be placed in locations where space is available including warehouses, storage areas and greenhouse head houses.
