Intergrow Greenhouses Inc. in Albion, N.Y., is currently expanding with an 18-acre addition to its existing 30 acres of greenhouse tomatoes. It will be the first commercial greenhouse to install HortiFuse glass that allows for optimum photosynthetically active radiation light distribution.
The expansion started in September and is expected to be completed by summer 2011. The first tomatoes will be planted in August and harvested in October. Once complete, Intergrow will have 48 acres of greenhouse growing red, yellow, orange, and roma tomatoes on-the-vine, as well as cocktail tomatoes.
The company is also adding a new pack-house, irrigation pond and additional office space.
