IPPS Eastern Region sets Ontario meeting

The event will take place July 20 and include tours and seminars.

International Plant Propagators’ Society’s Eastern Region has set the program for a 2016 Ontario area meeting, which will take place July 20. The theme is “Innovation: Making it work.”

In this industry, nurseries strive to be innovative to separate themselves from the competition. However, what happens once the new equipment is on the property or when that new building is built? How do you face the inevitable challenges that go along with implementing new technology and new ideas? Join the IPPS Eastern Region Wednesday, July 20 to discuss how to make innovations work and how to grow to success.

Seminars will take place in the morning at Landscape Ontario at 856 Fifth Line South in Milton, Ont. Expect to hear from leaders in the industry on their challenges with both introducing innovations into the workplace as well as the continual challenges they face as they put them into action. Attendees will enjoy lunch at Landscape Ontario and take a walk through their trial gardens. After lunch, they will tour Sheridan Nurseries’ two production sites and see how implementing their new potting line has been challenging and successful. Finally, the tour will conclude with a visit to Gro-Bark’s new mix facility which doubles the speed of production and creates a more consistent product. Meeting attendees can carpool or bring their own vehicle on the tours.

Program and registration details will be in the June IPPS newsletter and on the organization’s website:  www.ena.ipps.org. Contact Keith Osborne with any questions: keith@gro-bark.com or 905-466-0077.
