Univ. of Md. entomologist Stanton Gill reports that large numbers of brown marmorated stink bugs have been causing major damage on tomatoes and sunflowers. He was not surprised by infestations on sunflower since it used as a trap plant in Japan for these stink bugs. He said a plant sample was received with first instar nymphs of the stink bug that had hatched from eggs laid on white pine.
