Two light brown apple moths were found in Cayucos, Calif., by San Luis Obispo County agricultural inspectors, reports The Tribune. The newspaper said the adult moths were found in traps placed in residential landscapes.
Additional traps have been placed throughout the community to determine the extent of the infestation.
Residents have been asked by county ag officials to contact their office before moving any plants out of the area to avoid spreading the pest.
