Recycling agribusiness-generated plastics is focus of July event in Marco Island, Fla.
Southern Waste Information eXchange (SWIX), Tallahassee, Fla., has announced the venue and dates for the 2014 Agricultural Plastics Recycling Conference & Trade Show (APRC 2014).
The Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, Golf Club and Spa in Marco Island, Fla., will serve as the venue for APRC 2014, which will take place July 20-22.
Among the plastic scrap generated by agribusiness that the conference intends to address are:
• agricultural mulch film;
• drip tape;
• irrigation pipe;
• bale wrap;
• silage bags;
• bunker covers;
• pesticide containers;
• intermediate bulk containers (IBCs);
• nursery trays;
• nursery pots;
• greenhouse covers; and
• storage totes.
SWIX describes the conference [aprc2014.com] as “a networking forum bringing farmers, nurseries, agricultural plastic manufacturers, recyclers and government officials together to discuss the solutions to the landfilling and open burning of waste agricultural plastics.”
The event’s organizers also have issued a call for abstracts of potential presentations for the conference, with potential speakers having until Dec. 13, 2013, to submit abstracts through the following Web link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/APRC2014.
