LumiGrow Inc. will provide LED light fixtures for Algae to Omega’s 60,000 sq. ft. vertical indoor farm in Oakland Park, Fla. Algae to Omega cultivates algae for high-value products including nutritional supplements, cosmetics and fish meal.
Algae to Omega’s indoor farm receives natural sunlight during daylight hours. The LED fixtures will be used to provide supplemental light during the night. Without the LED lights, the company would need twice the space to produce the same amount of crops. Algae to Omega technicians can adjust the lights’ color output to meet the algae’s specific photosynthesis requirements. This precision yields energy savings of greater than 50% as compared to other lights.
