COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Construction has already been underway for a couple of months, but now it’s official for the $25 million Mastronardi Produce Greenhouse project as groundbreaking ceremonies were held Friday, Sept. 9, in Coldwater. Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley spoke at the ceremony along with company President and CEO Paul Mastronardi, who said Coldwater's people and the city's ability to cut through red tape were the reasons why the firm chose a 25-acre site on Coldwater's southwest side to expand its year round tomato growing operation.
Mastronardi, which is a multi-state firm that also does business in Canada, plans to employ 100 people in the first phase of the project with more to come. The Coldwater plant is expected to open late this year.
