The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture & Food (OMAF) and Ontario Ministry of Rural Affairs (MRA) in conjunction with Vineland Research and Innovation Centre, University of Guelph and Flowers Canada Ontario Inc. will be holding a meeting to discuss options for whitefly control in poinsettias for the coming season. The meeting will be held at the Vineland Research Centre (Rittenhouse Hall) on Thursday June 13th, 1.30 pm-4.00pm.
Discussions will include: a summary of last year's biocontrol issues - what went right and what went wrong; B and Q biotype whiteflies - results of last year's UoG monitoring project and what it means; the whitefly control project (on poinsettia cuttings) still in progress at Vineland, with results where they are available; and plans/recommendations for this year.
