The hydrangea Miss Saori (‘H20-2’PBR) was presented as a debutant at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and was named 2014 Chelsea Plant of the Year. This prestigious title was awarded because of the vivid colours and special qualities of this shrub.
The double-petalled flowers have deep rose margins. This color softens to white in the center and forms a nice contrast with the dark foliage that turns burgundy in spring and autumn. Miss Saori has a long flowering period that starts in June. Flowers even on first year wood. The ideal location is in full sun or semi-shade. Beautiful in borders or containers, but also excellent as a cut flower. It's also hardy to -18°C (-4°F).
Miss Saori was shown at the Chelsea Flower Show by Hillier Nurseries and Garden Centres & Javado Plant. Originally, the selection comes from Japan where it was bred by Ryoji Irie, who named this hydrangea after his wife. Van Klaveren Plant BV produced the plants that were displayed at the show.
Plantipp & Concept Plants are responsible for the introduction and royalty management on the European and North American market. Miss Saori will also be shown at Plantarium 2014, Aug. 27-30 at Boskoop, the Netherlands.
