The 2011-2012 edition of the "New England Greenhouse Floriculture Guide" is an unbiased source of detailed crop-specific production recommendations. It provides information on products to manage insects, mites, diseases, weeds, algae and plant growth regulation. The 250+ page book contains up-to-date recommendations for nonchemical and chemical management of greenhouse problems.
The guide provides details about how to use pesticides safely and effectively, and prevent pesticide resistance. It includes practical information for using natural enemies (biological control) to manage insects and mites.
The guide offers new plant growth regulator recommendations, including information about new generic chemicals and newly labeled growth regulator uses on vegetable crops and herbaceous perennials.
A photo library that includes photos and descriptions of hundreds of plant problems caused by insects, mites, diseases and nutritional disorders and cultural practices supplements the guide. The guide is updated every two years by the floriculture faculty and staff of the six New England state universities and published by New England Floriculture Inc.
The guide is available for $30 from state universities and from the Northeast Greenhouse Conference website.
