At the Society of American Florists’ convention in Phoenix, Leo Roozen, Washington Bulb Co. in Mt. Vernon, Wash., began a 2-year term as the association’s new president. Serving with Roozen on the exec. committee are president-elect Robert Williams II, Smithers-Oasis Co., Kent, Ohio; treasurer Dwight Larimer, Design Master Color Tool, Boulder, Colo. and board chairman Rod Saline, Engwall Florists & Greenhouses, Duluth, Minn. Peter J. Moran also serves on the exec. committee. Twelve industry members were elected to the SAF board of directors and councils. Beginning 3-year terms are Scott Kitayama, Greenleaf Wholesale Florist, Brighton, Colo.; Herb Van Der Ende, Burnaby Lake Greenhouses, Surrey, B.C., Canada; Lori Wheat, Lafayette Florist & Greenhouses, Lafayette, Colo. The Growers Council includes Robert Milks, Van Wingerden, Mills River, N.C.; PJ Ellison, Ellison’s Greenhouses, Brenham, Texas, and Donald Snow, Goldsmith Seeds, Gilroy, Calif. Kathy Dudley, The Bloomery, Butler, Pa., Ian Prosser, Botanica International Florist, Tampa, Fla. and Wayne DeBey, The Flower Nook, Salina, Kan., will serve on the Retail Council. Wholesalers Council members include Paul Fowle, Delaware Valley Flora Group, Sewell, N.J., Mark Berglund, Washington Floral Services, Tacoma, Wash., and Mike Romansik, FloraCraft Corp., Ludington, Mich.
