Nova Scotia-based Oberland Agriscience announced the launch of 2nd Nature, a regenerative home garden product using black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) frass, for garden centers and landscape professionals.
“Our vision is to make regenerative gardening second nature for every gardener,” said Greg Wanger, founder and CEO of Oberland Agriscience. “2nd Nature adds back into the soil what it needs to be healthy, meeting people’s expectations for sustainability while helping retail partners grow their businesses responsibly.”
Containing chitin and organic nutrients, BSFL frass enhances soil structure, boosts nutrient uptake and builds plant immunity without synthetic additives, according to Oberland Agriscience. Independent field trials demonstrate 2nd Nature frass enriches the root health by supporting a healthier microbial community, improving more than just the plant, the company added.
2nd Nature’s single-source frass provides a consistent, nutrient-dense composition that ensures reliable performance across every batch, closing the loop between organic waste and plant growth, the company continued.
"Completely natural, 2nd Nature aligns with one of the fastest-growing purchase drivers in the home garden industry: eco-conscious performance. Its packaging is fully recyclable, and its transparent labeling makes it easy for retailers to educate customers and build trust at the point of sale," the company said in a news release. "The launch of 2nd Nature comes as consumer interest in regenerative gardening continues to rise; searches for 'regenerative gardening' have grown more than 120% year-over-year. With proven performance, authentic environmental benefits and a strong story of circular innovation, 2nd Nature helps retailers capture this growing demand while differentiating themselves in a crowded organic market."
Oberland offers retail partners educational resources, merchandising and marketing support to drive awareness and repeat sales. For more information, visit my2ndnature.com and click "Become A Retailer."
