The Wooster campus of the Ohio St. Univ.-Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center remained closed to all visitors as cleanup crews remove debris and conduct building remediation work in the wake of a tornado that occurred on Sept. 16. The EF-2 tornado, with wind speeds of up to 130 miles per hour, struck the facility at around 5:30 p.m. The storm levelled some buildings, toppled trees and overturned cars. Campus greenhouses and their contents including plants and equipment were severely damaged.
Secrest Arboretum is also off limits until further notice. The arboretum sustained heavy damage to many of its large trees and some of its infrastructure.
The adjacent campus of Ohio State’s Agricultural Technical Institute (ATI) suffered no damage from the storm.
