All of the plants now shipped by Pacific Plug & Liner in Watsonville, Calif., have been certified sustainably grown by VeriFlora. A producer of annual and perennial plugs and liners, the company sought VeriFlora certification as confirmation of its steps to be accountable for the overall welfare of its employees, customers, community and the environment.
The certification process only took 6 months. Ryan Hall, PP&L’s new product development and marketing manager, said many of the certification requirements were already incorporated into the 10-year old company’s day-to-day operations.
“Additionally, “we went to work on our infrastructure, improved our chemical storage system and we have now installed a process that allows us to monitor our runoff,” Hall said. “Many of our current efforts, as well as our long-term goals, will help us lower our costs while conserving energy, therefore reducing our carbon footprint which benefits everyone involved”
