In a newsletter from Pen & Petal, Pantone Inc. gave its insights on where color is heading in the coming year. These upcoming trends could help influence product design and purchasing, breeding and selection, scheduling and planning, or in marketing communications materials.
Here is what Pantone Inc. says about future color trends:
-Blues are turning away from watery hues and becoming more of a basic building block, assuming the role that black used to play.
-Neutrals have transformed, and basic tones now are shaded and imbued with peaceful colors.
-Brights continue to evolve as they are paired together or weaved into larger groups, and exude drama and newness.
-Metallics have moved away from all-over surface coatings to integrated and broken effects worked within structures and materials.
-Black has taken new forms as a result of its pairings with light, texture, material and depth.
-Brown remains an important color, not just in its own right, but as an alternative base color and companion tone in harmonies.
