Belgian thermal screen manufacturer Phormium is launching a fully aluminized climate screen called Noctis Thermo that the company says offers energy savings of 72%.
"By combining the unique weaving technology with the use of the in-house developed Micro Encapsulated Particles process, we have not only succeeded in developing a screen with a superior energy saving, but we also have been able to keep the cost price significantly lower than the traditional aluminized screens," said application manager Jesse Verbeke
Noctis Thermo will be mainly used in three application domains: as assimilation screens in lit (LED) crops, as night screens in unlit crops and as a top screen in variable screen systems. In those applications, it is the extra energy saving that makes the difference and helps the grower to grow more sustainably and cost-efficiently, the company said.
"There is no doubt that we still have to make major steps in our sector in terms of sustainability. Reducing energy consumption is an important part of this," said sales & marketing director Peter Ollevier. "With Noctis Thermo, we offer a screen that can make a difference and at the same time remains affordable. We are therefore convinced that with this innovation, we are making an important contribution to the horticulture of the future.”
