Southern Living magazine in Birmingham, Ala., has entered into an agreement with Plant Development Services Inc. in Loxley, Ala., to develop and market a collection of plants in the United States and Canada. PDSI is expanding its grower group network, identifying suitable plants to fill the various crop categories and soliciting new plants from breeders worldwide.
Plants, which will be marketed under the Southern Living brand, will be available to consumers in spring 2008 through all retail channels. The collection will include bedding plants, ornamental grasses, tropicals, groundcovers, trees, shrubs, seasonals and related green goods. The collection will feature innovative plants aimed at solving consumer landscape problems.

PDSI owns and/or licenses more than 50 patented plant properties including Encore azaleas and Purple Pixie and Purple Diamond loropetalums.
