N.G. Heimos Greenhouses and Millstadt Young Plants in Millstadt, Ill., will host a poinsettia open house Nov. 19-20. The open house will include a comparison trial of more than 100 varieties, including plants from Syngenta, Ecke, Dummen and Selecta. In addition, there will be a growth regulator and cold temperature production trial. The growth regulator study will compare the effectiveness of drench treatments of B-Nine, chlormequat (CCC), Sumagic and Bonzi on Ecke varieties. The cold temperature production trial looks at the impact of growing and finishing Christmas Carol and Orion plants at cooler temperatures. Appointments are available.
