Plants form ferny mounds of clean foliage. Foliage is green with deep-purple-red highlights from spring into summer. New spring growth is red. Foliage reaches 12 inches tall by itself.
In late spring, foliage is topped with loose clusters of lightly fragrant, blue flowers. Some say the flower fragrance is grapelike.
Plants prefer full sun to part shade and well-drained soil. They’ll take a little more sun than other polemoniums if the moisture is available. Hardy in USDA Hardiness Zones 3-7.
