Restraining order denied for pest treatment

California’s Santa Cruz County filed a temporary restraining order to stop the aerial pheromone treatment for light brown apple moth (LBAM). The Santa Cruz Superior Court denied the request. Several regions throughout the state will be treated with Checkmate LBAM-F this spring. The pheromones distract and confuse the moths and prevent mating. The moth population declines as breeding slows. LBAM attacks more than 250 plants, including ornamentals and stone fruits.
