BioWorks Inc. announced that the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) reviewed the company's EPA registered biological fungicide RootShield PLUS (both Granules and WP), and approved the products for use in organic production.
BioWorks says that RootShield PLUS contains two active ingredients: Trichoderma harzianum strain T-22, and Trichoderma virens strain G-41, and provides preventive control of soilborne Phytophthora, improved control of hot-season Pythium (P. aphanidermatum), as well as other prevalent root diseases caused by Rhizoctonia, Fusarium, Pythium, Thielaviopsis, and Cylindrocladium.
According to the company, RootShield PLUS protects against damaging fungi by growing on roots, inhibiting and actively attacking pathogens; ensuring uninterrupted plant growth for up to 12 weeks per application.
Both the Granules and WP formulations have low Restricted Entry Intervals (REI), zero-day Pre-Harvest Intervals (PHI), and are registered for root disease control in greenhouses and outdoor ornamentals, herbs and vegetables.
