There will be a whole new way to show love this Valentine's Day with the launch of a Heart-Shaped Cucumber from Sainsbury's stores in the United Kingdom. Just in time for the most romantic day of the year, the vegetable will exclusively hit stores for the first time, priced at £1 per portion.
Perfectly shaped once sliced, the cucumbers can be used to surprise loved ones via an at-home spa treatment that includes a relaxing face mask. Or consumers can play Aphrodite -- Goddess of Love -- by making a romantically dressed Greek salad.
The seasonal shaped variation tastes as fresh and light as the common cucumber and looks great due to the added delight of its curves. A limited number will be harvested this year so customers are encouraged to shop early, but other seasonal shapes are planned for later in the year.
Elaine Young at Sainsbury's says: "Valentine's Day carries such an element of surprise we hope this year's fun love cucumber will get hearts racing, whether it's in a romantic packed lunch or a lovingly prepared salad."
